The article studies psychological and pedagogical research on the problem, the features of communication skills in children with General underdevelopment of speech level I using techniques, as well as the need to comply with the psychological conditions for the development of communication skills in children with ONR level I.

The article summarizes the author’s experience of using extra-curricular activities when teaching English to first-year Education majors (Primary education and the English language). Objectives, principles and types of extra-curricular activities are highlighted, examples of the extra-curricular activities conducted during the first year of studies with the Education majors are given and their education value is analyzed.

The authors consider theoretical and methodological aspects of the project activities use in the formation of communication skills in fourth-graders, and give examples of the organization of the "Space" project. The practical significance of the article lies in the fact that the pedagogical conditions for the formation of communication skills in fourth-graders can contribute to the development of communication skills of students in the process of working on a project.
