Finite element method is a modern standard tool for determining the stress-strain state of structural engi-neering. The traditional course of strength of materials is focused on «manual» methods of calculation of an age exceeding 100 years. The article is devoted to the integration of finite element analysis in the course of strength of materials in the form of tasks, solved by the students on practical lessons.

Research of phraseological units functioning as a form of the author’s consciousness in fiction opens up new perspectives in the studies of artistic images. PUs in Zamyatin’s «Farewell from nowhere» express his system of characters and the main idea of human return to Christian values. The article analyses the peculiarities of cognitive approach to studying PUs that contribute to effectively considering internal mechanism of creating the lines of narration and the development of literary themes. The choice of PUs reflects the author’s outlook and his ability to describe the surrounding world by means of PUs semantics. This investigation of the novel language is justified because it helps to understand the author’s motives and dependence on his views.

The article deals with the study of phraseological units frame structure from a cognitive perspective in the English language. The frame "mental activity" is presented by the English phraseology. The using frame possibility is proved in relation to the analysis of phraseological units. The analysis of frame structure "mental activity" allowed us to understand the specifics of English world perception.

The article is provided with the examples of frame structure advantages in the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language. The word 'Election', congruous academical text and required for an disclosure of a topic vocabulary are being the examples of the 'frame hypothesis' implementation according to the author.
