This paper covers the issues of military-patriotic education of cadets of military educational institutions, which is aimed not only at teaching practical skills and abilities in military affairs, but also at forming the moral qualities of the individual and ideological attitudes of cadet, which in their totality contribute to the implementation of measures to fulfill civic duty and constitutional obligations to protect the interests of the Motherland.

The article discusses the main ways of forming patriotism and citizenship of young people, which can be through various institutions and practices, as well as the importance of using an activity approach to achieve these goals.

In this article, the problem of nurturing patriotism among first-grade students is examined. It highlights the main components of patriotism that are included in the structure of patriotic education. These components are closely linked to the following areas of patriotic upbringing: spiritual-moral, historical-regional, socio-patriotic, military-patriotic, and heroic-patriotic. The article describes how each area of patriotic education for first graders manifests itself within these components of patriotism. Additionally, the main methods of fostering patriotism are outlined.
