The article is devoted to the study of ideas about the professions in adolescents with mental retardation. Two groups of high school students were surveyed: orphans and teenagers living in families. Researchers established differences in the perception of professions for each group of subjects. It is noted that all adolescents feel the need for psychological and pedagogical support for adequate selection of an acceptable sphere of activity and subsequent inclusion in the workforce.
The article presents an analysis of modern views on the problem of professionalization. The concept of professionalization and the three-component structure of professionalization are considered. The article concludes with a meaningful description of the ways of professionalization: internally-oriented, externally-oriented and pseudo-oriented.
The study of professional self-determination of high school students is closely related to the study of professional preferences as forms of manifestation of personality orientation and is based on data from the differential psychology of personality and typology of professions. The theoretical analysis carried out by the authors allowed us to conclude that professional preferences are a preference for one professional option compared to another, the intensity of the influence of the values of the profession, the coordination of their psychological capabilities and abilities with a certain type of activity, that is, preference is given to the profession that, due to its individual characteristics, is most suitable for a particular person. The role and effectiveness of career guidance games in the career guidance work of a teacher-psychologist with high school students is considered.
The article says that the process of forming professional preferences is the result of the impact of many interrelated objective and subjective factors, which also include gender characteristics. The significance of the gender aspect in the formation of professional preferences and the lack of knowledge of this problem in the scientific literature determined the direction and purpose of the study – the study of the gender characteristics (psychological gender) of professional preferences of high school students.
