The article is devoted to the monologue listening as one of the most difficult aspect of speech activity and analyses a new training manual on listening and speaking skills development. This training manual was developed at the chair ‘Russian philology’ of the University for foreign students, learning the Russian language. An audio text and a developed set of tasks are given as an example.

The article considers the essence of the concept «skill», describes the substantial components of the concept of «skill», as reflected in the definitions of scientists-pedagogues and psychologists, there are two approaches to defining the essence of the concept.

In the article the problem of formation of skills of independent work of younger schoolboys at Russian lessons is considered. The concepts of skill, independent work are analyzed. Features of the formation of the skill of independent work are described. The conditions for the effectiveness of independent work in primary school are presented.

The present article is devoted to the issue of teaching dialogue as one of the types of communicative activity, describes approaches to teaching the dialogue pattern existing in the methodology and suggests different types of preparing, conditionally-communicative and communicative exercises for practicing foreign students’ skills and abilities in the process of implementation of communicative intentions.
