The paper presents teacher’s experience of formation of oral and written speech of students of 5th-6th grades at the lessons of history.

The paper presents theoretical foundations of speech activity. The author considers the main types of speech activities (reading, writing, speaking, listening) and the definitions of the basic concepts of “speech activity”, “professional speech activity of future teachers of preschool educational institutions”.

Verbal literacy method is widely used in work on the development of oral speech during. This method can be implemented using a variety of techniques (interview, story, message, reasoning). The effectiveness of the elementary school teacher will depend on how well and it will be appropriate to use them in work with children.

The paper analyses the method of projects, which is one of the most efficient in teaching the English lan-guage. The paper examines the main theoretical and practical basis for the use of project methodology in educational process. Moreover, the paper illustrates the results of the experiment of the Department of History and Philology of the Stavropol State Pedagogical Institute. The use of the method of projects is thought to improve the motivation to language learning. The purpose of the research is to prove the effectiveness of the method of projects.

This article deals with types of speech activity based on the lexical material of the topic. The main goal of teaching vocabulary is revealed. The stages of work with lexical material are considered on the example of assignments for an extracurricular practical work with the introduction of a point-rating system for the second-year cadets on the topic «Armed Forces».
