Annotation. This article presents a discussion of the relation of physical makeovers and emotional well-being of adolescents. Analyzes the domestic research of physical makeovers as a separate phenomenon and one of the most important factors of emotional distress. There is a shortage of similar studies on body dissatisfaction in considering him as one of the manifestations of physical makeovers. The article presents the results of a study of the physical relationship of perfectionism with the emotional distress, expressed in the symptoms of depression and anxiety, the example of students in grades 8-10.

The article considers modern researches of appearance. The scheme is presented that reflects the appearance phenomenon study structure. In the presented scheme, two main groups of appearance studies are distinguished: depending on who is the subject and who is the object of evaluation. In addition, the three-component structure of each group of studies is distinguished, which includes cognitive, emotional and behavioral components.
Within the framework of this article, a theoretical analysis of the problem of studying coping strategies among students with different levels of perfectionism is carried out. The main theoretical approaches of foreign and domestic researchers to the definition of the phenomenon of "coping strategy" are considered. The role of coping strategies in the manifestation of perfectionism is analyzed. The article presents theresults of studying the content features of coping strategies among students of the Russian language and literature profile of the Pedagogical University with different levels of perfectionism.
The article discusses the common features between learned helplessness syndrome and perfectionism. The results of a study on the search for a correlation between learned helplessness syndrome and perfectionism are presented.

The phenomenon of perfectionism is very common in modern society, which sets unrealistically high standards as benchmarks, while basic beliefs influence both behavior and activity of a person, forming the basis of his/her worldview. The aim of the article is to identify the peculiarities of the basic beliefs of students with different levels of perfectionism. The results of the empirical study of the characteristics of the basic beliefs of students with different levels of perfectionism are presented in the article. It is found that students with a high level of perfectionism are characterized by a significant underestimation of their own importance and the ability of controlling what happens, i. e. perfectionism fulfils the protective function of basic beliefs.
