The paper is devoted to the lily’s symbolic meaning in the mythological context according to the Сhristian and folk tradition. The image of lily is analyzed through the period from the archaic to the modern art.
This article is devoted to the discovery of the reception conceptual meaning of Valery Bryusov's poetry in the novel "Resident" by Zakhar Prilepin. It is proved that a wide allusive series of citation from the Silver Age poetry contains an allusion to the poem "Mason" by Brusov which is the main poetic code that reveals the basic idea of the work, declaring the people departure from the Christian axiology as the cause and disastrous result of the revolutionary events of the first third of XX century in Russia.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the colour-naming words “silver” and “gold”. The author researches symbolic meanings of these colours in the early stories by American writer John Updike, as well as the peculiarities of silver and gold colours using for creating associative- subjective and objective images of the surrounding world. The means of each colour expression links, contexts of usage, as well as the role of colour motives in describing the appearance of heroes, objects and phenomena are studied. Moreover, their role for creating imagery of the actions, states, environment of narrative world in the writer's stories is also explored.
In the work the authors consider the value of patriotism as a factor in the unity of personal, collective and public interests, which fully manifests itself in the most complex and ambiguous periods of society, when real threats to its existence arise. The authors emphasize the understanding of patriotism as the highest value, meaningful under any circumstances and at any time, which can direct a person, society and state to overcome any difficulties and trials.The authors emphasize that the main components (personality, state, society) are very closely interrelated and contribute to both their personal needs and social development through their activities. The article describes the modern Russian society, where the problem of identifying and defining the modern symbolism of patriotism is becoming acute, and the problem of analyzing the modern formation of patriotic symbols is becoming more acute: what events in this context are included in the symbolization, on what grounds, what exactly is selected as content. The solution to this problem needs to be accelerated, since it is directly related to the level of development of the resource of patriotism and the possibilities of solving such problems for the development of our society, which can only be managed on the basis of patriotic activation of the population.
In the article numeral «forty» in phraseological units of Russian, English and German is considered. Phraseological context contributes to the desemantization of this component. Numeral loses its mathematical significance. The studied numeral phraseological units allow figuratively speaking about various phenomena of life and human activity
