The article is concerned with the issue of motivating students of a language specialty to reading texts of a detective genre in their home reading classes. The article describes the results of a survey of a pilot group of bachelor students of the “International Relations” course regarding their interest in reading detective works.
The article is devoted to the consideration of the functions of the artistic space created by the author in a literary text. It analyzes such functions as the space of action, living space, the space of the hero’s inner world, the space of heroes’ feelings and moods; it also describes spatial motifs that are important for the philological analysis of the text.
The article discusses the importance of using linguistic and regional material when teaching Russian as a foreign language. Texts of this nature will help students to form a positive attitude towards learning the language and culture of the native speaker of this language, increase the efficiency of the educational process and the effectiveness of intercultural communication.

Speaking training is a task that is solved throughout the study of a foreign language. The authors of the article share their experience in organizing a class aimed at developing the ability of students to speak as part of the study of the Russian language as a foreign language in the conditions of the preparatory department. Particular emphasis is placed on the use of various kinds of diagrams, tables that contribute to the development of the ability to see the main semantic segments of the text and then produce a logically built statement based on them. Examples of tasks are given.
The article reveals one of the ways of organizing artistic communication in the study of the Russian language by foreign students. The result of work in the workshop of life creation is the expansion of the lexical stock, the development of grammatical forms, the self-knowledge of their interests by each participant. The dignity of this work is in its interactivity and socialization. There is an activation of speech and life experience, the application of knowledge in the practice of speaking, reading, listening.
