The article examines the socio-economic nature of family entrepreneurship. Theoretical and methodological approaches to its definition are formalized through models reflecting the systemic, resource-oriented approaches and the approach based on the theory of «agents». The category of «family entrepreneurship» is interpreted.
One of the methods of regulating the socio-economic development of key regions is the active use of the potential of private entrepreneurs, including in the form of collective enterprises, with the limitation of direct state support. Problem regions have various reasons that slow down their development. In modern conditions, the main types of problem regions are: depressed, lagging, in crisis, as well as regions with special strategic importance.
