The article is devoted to one of the actual problems of using politically correct vocabulary in the sphere of intercultural communication. Some peculiarities of using such vocabulary are analyzed in the article. The considered spheres of the phenomenon are those of racial and ethnic spheres as well as the spheres of physical characteristics of a human being. The conclusions are made about the usage of the analyzed phe-nomenon in the English linguistic culture.

Electronic manual is an innovative and multifunctional means of teaching based on computer educational programs. Such parameters as multimedia, interaction, program code and content flexibility intensify and optimize the process of profession-oriented English teaching. The use of task variation, systems of naviga-tion, prompts, control and check of learnt material provide the cadets to be more active and work without assistance.

This paper deals with the problem of using pictures in Aviation English course for teaching such aspect of professional communicative competence as speaking skills. The article contains brief characteristics of avi-ation language, gives a set of technologies for using pictures in different textbooks for pilots and control-lers. The publication also determines the criteria of picture selection and special aspects of image descrip-tion techniques in the situations of professional communication.

The article says that electronic textbooks implementation into educational process requires thorough inspec-tion of its advantages and disadvantages. Indisputable advantages of electronic textbooks are individuali-zation of learning, multimedia implementation and self-educational competence formation. The high cost and complexity of electronic books creation as well as unusualness of their use in educational process are stated as the disadvantages of electronic books. The conclusion is that electronic textbook is not able to replace the traditional textbook completely but it can complement it.

To increase the efficiency of individual work in English, a group of teachers offers a number of alternative tasks reflecting different aspects of the foreign language. Cadets are asked to do grammar and vocabulary exercises, different tasks based on the texts, exercises preparing for mid-term and final tests. Performance appraisal rating system is used for the out-of-class English language practical course assessment. It helps increase the level of cadets’ personal responsibility for their knowledge of the English language.
