This article is devoted to the justification of educational and extracurricular activities role in the university. The author characterizes the concepts of teaching and extracurricular activities, and also reveals the idea of the influence and interrelation of these two processes. The author points to the processes that contribute to the formation of learner’s creative individuality.

The article touches upon the need to revise the role of history disciplines in the educational process of a higher educational institution. The essence of historical science and its functions that influence the formation of the student's personality are revealed. The article also draws attention to the necessity of organizing problem-based learning in higher education to improve the quality of history education.

The paper reveals the role of fairy tales in foreign language acquisition and proposes the types of tasks aimed at improving the skills of foreign-language communication and forming socio-linguistic competence.
