Introduction gives an idea of the importance of learning English grammar to Russian college and University students in the context of continuity in foreign language education. The purpose of the article is to identify the common features and differences in the current state of teaching grammar to Russian non-linguistic college and University students, to identify problems and offer ways to solve them. The methodology and methods of research include the analysis of foreign and domestic scientific and methodological literature on teaching grammar, comparison of foreign language exemplary programs for colleges and universities, practical comparison of the perception of the grammatical issues by college and University students. The results of the study showed that the process of Russian non-linguistic colleges and University students’ grammatical skills formation has common problems. Firstly, it is the absence of grammar topics and grammar exercises in many ESP textbooks, and secondly, the most general form of description of the content of teaching grammar in exemplary programs for both colleges and universities, with no links between grammatical and lexical topics. Comparing the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standards of secondary vocational and higher education shows that University graduates, unlike college graduates, need to know grammar for both oral and written speech production, as they will not only communicate with colleagues, but also prepare presentations, write articles, theses, abstracts and some other kinds of texts. Experimental lessons show that it takes college students more time to master grammatical skills than University students, and college students have smaller vocabulary. In order to ensure continuity in language education, it is necessary to include certain grammatical topics necessary for the development of writing skills into college working programs. Learning grammar is closely related to lexical skills. Thus it is necessary to encourage college students to enlarge their vocabulary, so they have their lexical base equal to the level of University entrants. Teaching English grammar at the University needs professionally-oriented vocabulary to move forward to foreign language competence development.

The purpose of the study is to substantiate theoretically and test experimentally the effectiveness of using the task approach in teaching robotics to form the desirable cross-professional competences of the future. The research methodology consists of an analysis of psychological, educational, scientific and technical literature, methodological works on the teaching of robotics at all stages of training; analysis of constructors and software tools to support students' practice and transformation activities; analysis of robotic systems from creative projects of the educational process participants; Rapid Foresight method; system analysis; pedagogical experiment. The authors made a detailed description of the didactic and interdisciplinary potential of robotics course as a part of the educational model implemented by educational institutions based on the traditional trajectory “preschool education - school - university - additional education”, in terms of training engineering and technical personnel for the professions of the future. The work substantiates the role of cross-professional competences (soft skills) as a complex of non-specialized metasubject skills responsible for successful participation in the working process and high efficiency. In addition, specific content supported by a system of tasks is offered for each of the core competences in the field of robotics and engineering. Our findings allowed us to formulate the basic ideas of the methodology for improving the through course of studying robotics with a precise focus on those competences formation that meet the requirements of society, business, and the state to prepare future specialists. The effectiveness of the modified methodology of the course for improving the quality of the educational process is confirmed by experimental data. The theoretical significance of the study lies in the fact that the findings confirm: it is the improvement of the course of robotics that will provide a useful skill - be able to learn, prepare for the professions of the future.

The aim of this article is to explain the intention of choosing a political anthroponym in the binomial nomenclature terms; to compare semantic rethinking mechanisms during the operation of these taxa and to determine their further use expediency in terminology. The study resulted in definition and description of the specific aspects of semantic motivation for eponyms named after political and military figures. The social factors affecting the intent to choose the anthroponym in taxa are identified. It is found out that the social hierarchy and the political situation affect the change in the semantics of the term. Under the conditions of social stratification, ideosemantics of political name is perceived differently not only in different languages, but also in social environments. This study used linguistic material (taxa of biomedical nomenclature), which was rarely subjected to linguistic analysis. During the operation of the term, a semantic rethinking of the name may occur. If a negatively perceived name interferes with the functioning of the term, a decision is made to eliminate it despite the terminological norm. A case has been revealed in which changed ideosemantics affects not only the functionality of the taxon, but also negatively affects the population of a biological species. It was determined that using of eponyms named after political and military figures is not desirable or advisable in terminology.
